Medicare (over 65 health insurance)
You have three primary options
option #1 Government issue medicare
Part A Hospital care. Issued to you free when you turn 65 years of age.
Part B (optional) Doctor care. Cost $154.50 for 2019 (for most people). Most people want this.
These plans cover about 80% of you health cost. You pay for the remaining 20%. This 20% is unlimited.
No drug coverage provided but it can be added
Most people don’t choose this option, because of the unlimited 20% exposure.
Option #2 Medicare Advantage
Medicare Advantage combines Part A and Part B to make Part C, (you still have the Part B cost). Part C is administer by a health insurance company.
These plans cover about 80% of you health cost until you meet a deductible. Your deductible amount depends on the plan you choose. This caps your 20% exposure. Excluding you Part B cost this option should cost you less than $50 and sometimes no additional cost.
Some of these plans can include Part D, your drug plan.
For most people a better option than Option #1.
Option #3 Medicare Supplemental
This option can reduce your expenses when using health care services to nothing. The cost of health services are dependent on the plan you choose and there is a monthly premium that can range from about $50 to $150.
You will need to add a Part D drug plan.
This option can reduce you use of services to $0, depending on the plan you choose.
